The short answer
Where do I start with everyday service?
Start close to home. Ask someone what would help, choose one action they welcome, complete it reliably, and respect their privacy and dignity.
01
Listen before deciding
Ask a person you know what would help today. Let their answer shape the action rather than assuming that your first idea is the right one.
02
Do one useful thing
Offer time, a practical task, a meal, transport, encouragement, or an introduction where appropriate. Agree on the action and follow through.
03
Protect dignity
Let the person choose what is shared. Help without turning their story into your content. Check back if you made a commitment.
After the session / One question
Did the person receive what they needed, in a way that respected them?
